It will quickly convert any text document into an html document ready to be posted on the Internet/Intranet. It will add appropriate headers and automatically convert all urls and email addresses into follow able links. It can also add a pre-defined title as well as meta-tags and footer to the document. If you wish, a date & time stamp can also be appended. Underlined text will be converted into headers and special charactors will be converted to apply with html standards. Colors and background images are also options. [2] Installation Instructions ----------------------------- To install Quick Page just download the following file: http://members.tripod.com/~qpage/qpage.exe - The installation program. Just run it. If that site doesn't work or is slow, you can try http://www.freenet.edmonton.ab.ca/~wagner/qpage/qpage.exe Note: Quick Page also requires the file vbrun300.dll in your c:\windows\system directory. It may already be there. If you don't have it, you can get it from http://members.tripod.com/~qpage/vbrun300.exe. This program will uncompress and install vbrun300.dll for you. You can also get this at http://www.freenet.edmonton.ab.ca/~wagner/qpage/vbrun300.exe [3] Multi-Page Capability ------------------------- Quick Page has multi-page capability. This means that it can take one file such as an FAQ or manual and automatically split it into many smaller files all linked together through a table of contents. They will be sorted according to a number surrounded by square brackets "[]" such as [5] or [3.2] and the output files would be names 5.htm and 3-2.htm. Try it on this file if you want an example. I decided to use the square brackets because people often use the rounded ones "()" for comments, etc. [4] Future Features ------------------- Features that are being worked on for future versions: - Command line support: This means that the program will be able to accept command line arguments as well as the GUI. This will allow it to be used in batch files, CGI programs, etc. all without any mouse clicking or screen clutter. - Customized Header: Same as the footer except at the top of the page. If you have any new features, please email me at: cwagner@connect.ab.ca and I will consider them. [5] Bugs, Problems, & Limitations --------------------------------- - Quick Page was started in Visual Basic 3.0 under Windows 3.11. I've since worked on it under Windows 95 but it should still be fully functional under 3.11. The current copy is a 16-bit windows version but I am going to make a 32-bit windows copy in the near future. Quick Page can not fully understand windows 95 long file names but will follow it's "8.3" (dos) counterpart, ie: "long name here.html" -> "longna~1.htm". Just rename the files after if you have to. - It will overwrite files without asking first so be careful! If you find a bug, please tell me! [6] Registration ---------------- Registration costs $15.00. You can register through the internet via credit card at: https://commerce.mindspring.com/www.swregnet.com/1107s.htm (secure) http://www.swregnet.com/1107p.htm (unsecure) If you do not wish to register, the software package will work just fine but there will be a few restrictions: - Size limit on files. Nothing bigger than 15000 bytes will be processed. - A pre-defined footer will be automaticly appended. - A limit of 5 files per session can be converted. - Nag screen on start-up. Once you register, these restrictions disappear. [7] Legal Information --------------------- Quick Page is Copyright (c) 1997 by Chris D. Wagner. All rights reserved.
